Wakefield Civic Society Autumn Dinner

You Shall Go To The Ball!

This year, we’re off to the Theatre for our annual dinner!

Yes, we’ve booked the new Centre for Creativity at Theatre Royal Wakefield for what we know will be the social event of the year!

And with this year’s panto at the Theatre being Cinderella, you can expect to find more than just a passing reference to Cinders and possibly her fairy godmother.

So, with party frocks out and Buttons polished (ooh err missus), dig out those glass slippers and book your carriage. Demand will be high and spaces are limited, so book your tickets today!

Catering will be provided by Shaun Mounsey and his team from Create Café, long-standing friends of the Society and winners of our Restaurant of the Year Award three years’ running.

By having our dinner at the Theatre, we have, however, caused ourselves some logistical problems and we are having to hire in all the equipment – from tables and chairs, to knives, forks and spoons. To keep overall costs down, we have agreed to offer a set menu which we hope will be appealing to all.

Rather than having a guest speaker, we are going to repeat our ‘Games Night’ which has proved so popular and successful for us in recent years. We will, therefore, be asking people on the night to buy envelopes (at £5 each) which will give access to a variety of entertainments and games: there may even be prizes! We will also offer a number of items in a ‘silent auction’, all with the intention of raising some additional funds for the Society while having a fun-packed and enjoyable evening.

There will, of course, be the round-up of news and views about what is going on in the Society and an opportunity to meet up with fellow members and guests.

Dinner will be served at 7.30 pm with doors opening at 7.00 pm. There will be a cash bar and guests will be able to purchase drinks to accompany their meal on arrival. As there is no show on at the Theatre that evening, we will have exclusive use of the bar area

We do hope that you will be able to join us for what is sure to be another enjoyable evening. If you are able to donate prizes for the games or the silent auction, please let us know.
