Visit to Leeds University Campus, Brotherton Library and University Art Gallery

We have organised a visit to Leeds University on the morning of Monday, 22nd October. Our guide will be Ken Goor who did our recent tour Leeds Civic Hall. Ken will give us a brief history of the evolution of the university and its buildings and a tour of the campus to visit the buildings and the many art installations, perhaps the best known being the Eric Gill frieze of Christ expelling the moneylenders from the Temple.

Our visit will also include the Brotherton Library with its Wakefield connections and will last around two to two and a half hours. There will be a break for refreshments in the student refectory during the morning. At the end of the tour you will be free to visit the Stanley and Audrey Burton Art Gallery in your own time. It opens at 13.00h and entry is free, it contains an eclectic mix of ceramics, modern art and much "traditional" art.

We shall meet promptly at 10.30 am outside the Parkinson Building in Woodhouse Lane. It is the building with the large white clock tower. If the weather is inclement we may assemble inside the building. There are regular buses from Leeds Bus Station:- from stand 18 number 6 and from stand 19 number 28 or 97.
