The award is now presented each year to one of the restaurants visited by the Society’s monthly Dining Club members. After each meal, members score their experience and the award is presented to the establishment scoring the highest overall mark.
In 2017, and not for the first time, two establishments tied for top place so it was decided that the Society should present two awards.
At Hokkaido, members of the Dining Club had been served good food cooked in front of them with considerable panache and flair on teppanyaki grills so the evening was partly entertainment and partly a food tasting opportunity. This was the second visit to Hokkaido in recent years and once again, Dining Club members enjoyed both the food and the overall experience.
At Create Café, an outright winner for 2015 and a joint winner for 2016, manager Shaun Mounsey and his team once again had offered members a cocktail master class before serving an excellent three course meal, making once again for a fun and enjoyable evening..
Society president Kevin Trickett said “Our members are asked to consider the overall experience when attending our monthly outings. They are looking for more than just good food; our members want good, friendly service and to feel that their custom is valued while enjoying comfortable surroundings. They are looking for something a little bit special. In both Hokkaido and Create Café, our members found just that!”
